Julia Maiden

Julia Maiden is an experienced optometrist with over 25 years in clinical practice and a strong track record in Local Optical Committee (LOC) leadership across Greater Manchester. She is Chair of the Ashton, Leigh and Wigan LOC, and Vice Chair of both the Confederation of Greater Manchester LOCs and the Greater Manchester Optometry Provider Board, where she supports collaboration between optometry, commissioners, NHS Trusts and integrated care systems.

Julia plays a key role in governance, service development and workforce initiatives within LOC structures, helping to integrate optometry into wider NHS priorities. She also represents the North West LOCs at the LOCSU National Forum, contributing to national discussions on the future of community eye care. Alongside her leadership roles, she continues to work in clinical practice and is a Clinical Lead Optometrist for ASDA Opticians, maintaining a strong focus on delivering high-quality patient care.
