What Is The Eye Care Navigation Service?

Our service acts as a single point of access for all your eye care needs. Whether your referral comes from your GP, optician, pharmacy or NHS 111, www make sure you’re directed to the most appropriate service quickly and efficiently.

  • Urgent referrals are handled within 24 hours.
  • Routine referrals are managed within 48 hours.
  • Our team is clinically led and operates six days a week.

How Does It Work?

You may be referred to us by your GP, optician, pharmacist or NHS 111. Once we receive your referral, our team of experienced optometrists will review it within 24 hours to ensure all necessary information is included and that you’re directed to the most appropriate service. You’ll then be given the opportunity to choose from a range of local providers, with support available both online and by phone. Depending on your needs, you may be seen in a community optometry practice or referred to hospital eye services.

Patient Choice

When referred, you’ll receive a unique online link via text message to explore and choose from a range of local providers.

Our ‘Find a Hospital’ tool helps you compare options based on distance, CQC ratings and waiting times.

If you prefer to speak to someone, our dedicated phone line is available to guide you through our choices.

We provide information in multiple formats, including accessible and offline versions and ensure you have enough time to make informed decisions.
