13 November 2023

Five brave Primary Eyecare Services employees are getting their running shoes at the ready ahead of taking part in the 2024 London Marathon to raise money on behalf of our partner charity, SeeAbility.

Training Now in Full Swing

Preparation for the big day is now well underway for the Primary Eyecare Services athletes who have chosen to take part, as they finesse their fitness for tackling the lengthy 26-mile stretch across the streets of London in April next year.

Running Towards a Cause

All funds raised towards our marathon team will be directly donated to SeeAbility whose invaluable work is crucial to creating a positive impact on the lives of individuals living with a learning disability or autism, who may also have sight issues.

The charity’s overarching aim is to enhance the lives of people with learning disabilities and/or autism, by offering support to find employment, form friendships and enjoy new experiences and hobbies.

In Their Own Words

Speaking about his decision to volunteer for the Primary Eyecare Services Marathon team, Data Analyst Vijay Balaji said:

“I’ve been running since school, but due to injuries had to stop. This is good opportunity for me to start again and helping SeeAbility is something I value a lot.”

Primary Eyecare Services Clinical Lead, Amy Hughes, explained her own motivation for taking part, adding:

“Completing a  marathon had been in the back of my mind for a while, so when the opportunity came up to go for this challenge with the PES team and to support such a great charity, it seemed the perfect time to go for it!”
