As October begins, so does Black History Month – the annual global tribute to the work and achievements of remarkable black individuals throughout history all over the world.
As October begins, so does Black History Month – the annual global tribute to the work and achievements of remarkable black individuals throughout history all over the world.
This year, the campaign’s main theme is Saluting our Sisters, with an emphasis on the crucial role that black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities. This year’s celebration will therefore be showcasing pioneering black women who have made remarkable contributions to literature, music, fashion, sport, business, politics, academia, social and health care and more.

Lots of Ways To Get Involved
Look out for a mix of actual and virtual events taking place throughout Black History Month across the country, ranging from a focus entertainment and the arts, education and history to tours, walks, debates and the exploration of ground-breaking advancements in academia, maths, science, healthcare, law and the wider business world.
Beyond October – Making a Year-Round Difference to Racial Awareness
In addition to supporting Black History Month, Primary Eyecare is making plans to actively participate in awareness-raising initiatives to continue, and enhance, the ongoing racial awareness dialogue.
Committed to extending the conversations beyond the official month of celebration, we are active participants in the national Racial Equality Matters Trailblazer accreditation scheme. The scheme was developed in response to public demand about identifying which UK organisations are successfully taking action and making an impact on race inequality.
Primary Eyecare is pleased and proud to be registered for the scheme and we will be publishing regular updates on our progress to accreditation.
