Local Optical Committee (LOC) Engagement
6 November 2024
Primary Eyecare Services recently hosted a successful Local Optical Committee (LOC) Briefing Event over the course of two days at our Manchester office.
The event aimed to strengthen collaboration with LOCs to further expand the provision of enhanced eye care services across England, which already sees participation from over 2,500 practices.
The briefing served as a platform for Primary Eyecare Services to share development plans and receive valuable feedback from LOC members nationally. Key discussions focused on the organisation’s future direction and strategies for expanding services by working in collaboration.
During the event, team members presented both the achievements and challenges of the past year, as well as new initiatives underway. LOC members were actively engaged in discussions throughout the day, asking questions and offering feedback, which is integral in future planning.
Andrew Slater from Wolverhampton LOC noted the positive atmosphere, stating, “From the moment I entered the building, it was clear that Primary Eyecare Services is committed to enhancing the eye care profession.”
On a similar note, Lancashire and Morecambe Bay LOC Member, Jenifer Smith, commented: “Meeting the senior leadership team was a fantastic opportunity. As someone new to Primary Eyecare Services, it was enlightening to learn about the history and future plans, and I’m excited about how we as an LOC can collaborate more closely moving forward.”
The positive feedback was echoed amongst those who attended, as feedback gathered showed that 100% of attendees felt the event either met or exceeded their expectations and that it was a ‘good use’ of their time.
Overall, the LOC Briefing Event highlighted the importance of collaboration in shaping the future of delivering our enhanced services, responding to the needs of LOCs and practices across areas of the country.
