Edward Ovenden

Clinical Lead, North East and Yorkshire

Edward Ovenden

I am the joint Clinical Lead for Primary Eyecare Services looking after Lancashire and South Cumbria and North Cumbria. I graduated from Manchester University with a B.Sc.(Hons) in Optometry in 2017 and qualified with the College of Optometrists in 2018. I have since worked as a resident and principal optometrist in both multiple and independent settings within primary care. I currently work as a locum optometrist in both primary and secondary care with a passion for delivering enhanced services.

I also serve as the treasurer on the Lancashire and Morecambe Bay Local Optical Committee and am studying for a MSc in Clinical Optometry with Cardiff University.

My special professional interests are glaucoma, colourimetry and providing accessible eyecare for children and vulnerable adults with learning disabilities and autism.

My role with Primary Eyecare Services involves supporting the development and delivery of existing and new enhanced services for Lancashire and Cumbria. This comprises collaboration with optical practices, hospital eye departments, the NHS and third sector care providers along with mobilisation, auditing and performance monitoring of each service available in our area.
