Clinical Lead, South West

I am Clinical Lead for Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW). Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) and Frimley. I am also Primary Eyecare Service’s Head of Research.

I have worked in primary care optometry for 25 years, starting as support staff in a practice, then moving to the surfacing and glazing lab before completing my Dispensing Optician and Contact Lens Optician qualifications. I completed the Career Progression degree to qualify as an optometrist, then completed an extra-mural part-time PhD at the University of Bradford.

My Clinical Lead role is very varied and always keeps me busy! It includes being the local point of contact for our key stakeholders including ICBs, Trusts, Independent Sector Providers, LOCs and practices and overseeing the commissioning, mobilisation and day-to-day supervision of the extended services in my area.
