Referrals into the Service
Patients present to the service via one of two methods:

1. Patients will be processed onto the IT system OPERA and the parents are sent a referral letter asking them to select an optical practice. Once a practice is selected, the clinical details are sent to the chosen practice via OPERA. Patients are then assessed under the PVS module.

2. Patients are sent a letter home with a list of participating practices and patient presents to optical practice with the letter for assessment. Patient are then assessed under the PVS module.

Outcome Reports
All outcomes are processed within OPERA. If a patient requires an onward referral to HES, this is generated within the system. A report to the screener and GP is also processed.

If the patient is discharged, then the screening team and patients GP receive a report.
