Glaucoma Repeat Readings Service (GRRS)

Overview

To reduce false positive referrals into HES glaucoma clinics, both on the grounds of IOP and visual field (or both concurrently).

Glaucoma Repeat Readings Service (GRRS)

 

Primary care optometrists will perform repeat readings of IOP and/or visual fields prior to referral, to ensure that they are consistently outside normal limits.

Accreditation
WOPEC Glaucoma Level 1.

Entry to Pathway
Via a GOS or private sight test Patients who are identified as having IOP >24mmHg but <31mmHg by NCT (non-contact tonometry), and no other signs of glaucoma, and/or patients who are identified as having suspect glaucomatous visual fields.

Service Pathway Online
Up to two repeat readings of IOP using a contact application tonometer (Goldmann or Perkins). Visual field test repeated with a threshold standard automated perimeter.

N.B Some services do not include a repeat of visual fields.
